What do a mall, a bank, and a stadium all have in common? (Besides taking your money, of course)
Digital Signage.
First the XC5.
This is a first of its kind of player that not only supports 4K and 8K resolutions but can spread content across 2 or 4 HDMI ports. There are custom PC solutions that can support multi-outputs, but this is the first appliance type hardware to offer it. Previously you would need multiple BrightSign players to achieve what now can be done with a single unit.
Designers using the XC5 now have many more choices for creating unique architectural designs with the monitors, without having to be concerned about synchronizing the content across what would have been multiple players. Just think of 2 or more monitors side by side as the content divides the monitors with separate images and then blends seamlessly back together as a full image across all screens, now programmed and played off a single player. And with the power of XC5 you can incorporate sophisticated motion graphics and add interactivity to your multi-screen experiences with ease. Not only are you simplifying the creation of video walls and multi-screen experiences, you are also gaining efficiencies in the costs to deploy and maintain from cabling and SD cards to power and CMS licenses. If you employ a cloud CMS solution they are often licensed per player. So what could’ve been a 4 license solution to drive a 2×2 video wall now could become a single license. BrightSign also provides free Control Cloud with every player which gives you the ability to monitor and control players remotely anywhere, anytime to avoid putting costly boots on the ground.
Now let’s discuss the XT5.
One of my favorite features to deploy with those earlier BrightSign players was their ability to input local content via an HDMI input port and add that into the signage programming. Often this was a school that had morning announcements and we would wrap the signage content around the live video. Schedules, menus, and sports scores lived side by side with today’s live news. This is commonly called an L-Bar in the broadcast world.
Consider a bank with the monitor in portrait mode: the bottom half of the screen displayed live news and the top half featured bank programs and the latest interest rates. Stadiums can use this to allow patrons to keep an eye on the game and never miss the action while deciding on their beer at the food court. This feature has been available on XT1144 for the past 3 years and now we have improved on this ability with the XT1145 and XT2145 models. These new series 5 models both offer an HDMI input that supports 4K video and their motion graphics engine has been substantially upgraded so you can play sophisticated 3D motion graphics overlaid on top of or alongside live video. XT5 also offers 8K video playback on a single screen. The top model even supports dual HDMI outputs in addition to the HDMI input which widens the possibility of how to display live content across multiple screens. And unlike XC5 the XT5 offers POE+ which further streamlines deployments.
As you plan your upcoming signage deployment, keep in mind that opting for BrightSign Purple players provides greater design flexibility, requires less hardware, and offers increased freedom for seamless integration with live content.
